It started with the purchase of 11 acres of rural land in Yotala, 25 mins from the Unesco World Heritage Site of the city of Sucre, Bolivia. 3 years later we opened as a small boutique hotel to recoup our investment, gaining top ratings locally and nationally. 4 years later we closed and reclaimed Sky Hacienda as our home. Before building the well, it was important to have a cistern near our house to store water from the well and from harvested rainwater. The cistern was dug by hand, and then reinforcing steel wired together to form a cage for the concrete walls.
